What is CDS?
- The Consumer Directed Services Program (CDS) is a MO HealthNet program for Medicaid recipients. If you are a Medicaid recipient, and are in need of assistance in the home, this program gives you an alternative way to receive home care services.
- CDS puts you in charge of your care. Rather than using an outside home health care agency, you can direct your own care. You do all the recruiting, hiring, training and scheduling.
- Hiring a stranger through a home care agency can leave you afraid and uncomfortable. You may be faced with arrangements that are unappealing and services that are inadequate. Having to deal with an agency that can't seem to provide the services you need can be discouraging.
- All you want is a sincere caregiver in your home who understands you and your needs. Having to rely on a stranger in your own home can be unpleasant and worrisome.
Do I Qualify?
For the patient you must:
- Live in the State of Missouri
- You are Medicaid recipient
- In need of home care
For the caregiver:
- You are at least 18 years old
- Healthy to be a caregiver
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
